Chen - Round 5

Curtis took a long swig of his green smoothie.
He was determined to be as healthy as possible.
He even started exercising again.  He wanted to be fit enough to keep up with Mehrissa!
"Mmm.. looking good!" she said, walking up behind him and squeezing his rear.  "I know a better workout!"

Curtis headed off to work with a smile on his face.
 "Yeah, he's gone. Come over!"
Mehrissa didn't care that Roy was a married man.  He was DJ ROI!  She couldn't wait to tell all her friends!

Roy pulled back from the kiss.  "This is between us, right?"

"Of course baby," she said, pulling him back to her kiss.

A few hours later...
Roy was starting to look really guilty.  "Look, Mehrissa.  You're a nice girl..." he started to say. "But this can't happen again. I love my wife."

Mehrissa smiled seductively and reached around to cop a feel.

"I mean it!" Roy said with less certainty.
Mehrissa turned to make the bed and smoothed the wrinkled covers.

Bills, bills, bills...  She'd give those to Curtis when he got home.  Mehrissa glanced up when she saw a young woman pass by.

Now she looked like someone that knew how to have fun!  "Hey!" she called out.
"Hi, I'm Brandy. Just back from college."
The two bonded fast over being college drop-outs looking for love.

"Let's invite a few people over!" Brandy suggested.

Matthew Gaithers knocked on the door loudly, hoping Mehrissa would hear over the radio.  A few of her neighbors had complained about the noise.

A few minutes later, she opened the door.  When she saw him, her eyes lit up.  "Hey you! Come on in, join the party!"

Matthew let himself be pulled into the apartment.
Maybe he could get her alone at some point.  He had pleasant memories of making out on that couch over there.
Brandy nervously avoided Mr. Bryant's gaze.  What a mess.  She'd just found out that her new friend was cheating on Camryn's dad with Mr. Bryant!  Should she tell Camryn or not?  Which friend did her loyalty belong to?  Confused, she made her excuses and left.
Hours passed and Mehrissa flitted from guy to guy, having the time of her life &  preening under all the attention.
The door slammed open and a very angry woman stormed inside.  "Roy Bryant!" she grated angrily.  "It is time to come home."
Mehrissa turned to face Rebecka and smiled.  "Ah, come on. Join the party!" she said.  "We're all just having a little fun."

Rebecka pointed her finger at Mehrissa and jabbed.  "This doesn't concern you," she said snidely.  "Roy! Are you coming or not?" she asked, tapping her foot impatiently.

"I'm coming!" he said, hopping up off the couch, carefully avoiding eye contract with Mehrissa.
Rebecka stormed from the apartment in the same manner she entered.  Only this time, Roy followed meekly behind her.
"What a shrew!" Mehrissa joked with the remaining guys.  She was never getting married!

Curtis was caught off-guard when two men exited the apartment just as he was coming home from work.

"Have a good night, Curtis," his landlord said with a knowing smirk on his face.

It was the smirk that really rubbed Curtis raw.
"What am I supposed to think when I come home and see two men leaving the apartment?!" he demanded angrily when he confronted Mehrissa.
"Oh please! You're just imaging things! Do you want me just to sit at home and twiddle my thumbs while I wait for you to come home?!" she snapped defensively.  "That's so sexist!"

Still steaming over their disagreement the other night, Roy made plans to spend the day with his daughter, Camryn.
He took her into town for some rollerskating.  It was good to see her enjoy herself!  He really missed having her in his life full-time.

Mehrissa had put it off as long as possible.  There was no hiding the signs of pregnancy anymore.  Since she wasn't entirely sure who the father was, she would have to handle this with care...
"A flower? For me?" Curtis said, taken aback.

Mehrissa smiled sweetly.  "I'm sorry for the way I flew off the handle the other night," she began.  "Do you still want me?"

"Of course I do!" Curtis assured her.  "I had no call accusing you of anything. I saw you hanging out with friends your own age and I overreacted.  I'm sorry."

"I'm glad," Mehrissa said with a smile, "Because I have some surprising news..."
Curtis gasped with delight.  "Pregnant?!" His gaze tracked down to her small, gently rounded belly.  "We're having a baby?!"

Mehrissa nodded.
Curtis dropped to his knee.  "Mehrissa, will you marry me?"
Mehrissa was shocked as Curtis slid the ring on her finger.  Marriage?  She hedged.  She'd always thought she'd be single and free all her life.

But she also never planned on getting pregnant!  No way was she doing this on her own!
She nodded, grinning winningly as Curtis slipped her wedding ring on her finger, symbolizing their commitment to each other.

"Come on!" she said when it was done. "Let's celebrate!"
"Are you sure you should be going out to party in your condition?" he asked timidly from the doorway.

"I'm pregnant, not dying!" Mehrissa called back.

"Play something faster!" Mehrissa called up to the DJ.
Grabbing her husband's hand, she danced with him until he needed a break.
 She had an idea...

"Are you sure about this?" Curtis asked doubtfully as she tugged the curtain shut. "People are going to know what we're..."

Whatever Mehrissa did stopped his argument in its tracks.
Ignoring the cat calls and the giggling audience, Mehrissa stepped out of the photobooth.
Curtis followed behind her, grabbing the photos when they came out.   "Mehrissa, look at these!" he said, turning to the side where he last saw her.  "Mehrissa?"  Where'd she go?
Mehrissa heard hear husband calling for her.  "Here, take my card. Call me sometime," she said with a wink.

Curtis woke up with a grin on his face. He was married again.  It felt good.  And they were going to have a baby! He never thought at his age that he'd be a father!
It made him more determined to be successful so that he could provide for his growing family.

"KEEP IT DOWN IN THERE! I'M TRYING TO SLEEP!" Mehrissa yelled as she slammed her fist against the wall.
She slipped back into bed and tried to get back to sleep.

The music started again.

Rolling over, she slammed her pillow over her head.  I hate apartments, she thought irritably.

Mehrissa's labor caught her completely off-guard.
"Are you okay, Mehrissa?" her husband asked, concern written across his face.
"I heard you scream. Is everything okay in here?" Matthew asked as he burst into the apartment, surprised to find his lover in labor.  Mehrissa hadn't said anything to him, but sometimes he wondered whether she was pregnant with his child...
Welcome to the family Cameron Chen!

(FYI - no, I did not realize that now Curtis has two children with the same name.  Camryn and her little brother Cameron.  Lol.  My daughter just pointed it out to me. Gar!)

"I'm a father!" Curtis yelled out happily.
Matthew crept closer and searched the baby's face for any signs that he might be the father.  "He's beautiful," he said softly to Mehrissa.

"Thank you for checking in on us, but this is time for family only," Curtis said testily, shooing the landlord from the room.

Matthew glanced over his shoulder towards Mehrissa.  He'd be calling her soon.

"Cameron? You named him Cameron?" Camryn asked incredulously.

Curtis grinned as he held his son in his hands.  "I named him after his big sister! You guys will always have a connection. Do you want to hold him?" he asked.

Camryn gazed down at her little brother and smiled.  "Sure!"

Mehrissa was just finishing her breakfast when she heard a soft knock on the door.
"Is he home?" Matthew asked, glancing towards the living room cautiously.

Mehrissa nodded.  "He's upstairs with Cameron."
"I won't stay long," Matthew said, pulling her into his arms and kissing her.  "Is he mine?"

Mehrissa shook her head.  "No, the timing wasn't right."

Matthew nodded tersely, strangely disappointed.  "Alright then.  Well then, I guess this is the end of this."
He slipped from the house as quietly as possible.  He might have romantic relationships with his female tenants, single or married, but he absolutely drew the line at having an affair with a married mother!
